I worked at City College Florida part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Co-workers were awesome, friendly, helpful people. Very hands on with the students which is beneficial to them and to the company.

    Cons

The company was having financial difficulties and underwent significant changes around the time I left. New management pretty much helped things go horribly wrong, things like theft and poor customer service led to more employment changes. Things were confusing and no one let anyone know anything until the last minute.

    Advice to Management

Management (mainly from the corporate office) needs to be more involved. They makes changes without ever even meeting any of the employees or ever even setting foot in the building. On site management needs to more observant of the day to day operations and their employees hard work and dedication to the company and the students.

I have been working at City College Florida full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Just as any company, the people can make or break the morale.
    School offered marketable programs

    Cons

FA director doesn't is a corporate puppet. If corporate says it, there's not rebuttal, no question, no matter what it is. I don't know if it's because of her age but she never used discernment.
ED seemed cool, but had sloppy presentation.

I worked at City College Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most fellow employees are great and respective of one another. If i was able to only todo what my job description was, I'd have enjoyed it more. The students were he best part.

    Cons

Unorganized, Self Unaware, disrespectful towards their employees, inconsiderate, poor pay for job requirements, don't hold accurate people accountable, REALLY REALLY BAD MANAGEMENT, super micro management, management constantly validating their position, favoritism,Unable to follow their own policies, DONT TRUST HUMAN RESOURCE.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better and open your eyes to whats going on and human resource needs to be updated on the word anonymous (because they don't) Corporate needs younger people running it and listen to your employee's you're not the only one with a brain. Plus trust them, you lost a lot of great employees for your stupidity.

I have been working at City College Florida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping students and being able to assist people in need to better their future.

    Cons

Hostile work environment, management is unprofessional, a lot of pressure from Admissions. The school is strictly numbers driven, not student or employee focused and doesn't stick to its statement of providing an "extraordinary educational experience". Resources are very limit to students, you are pressured to enroll a student at any cost on their first visit and push them through a process which takes hours. Seems their corporate management is completely uncaring to what happens on this campus.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on these campuses and not in your offices running "surveys" and reports. This way you will get a true sense of what your organizations environment is. Spend more time enhancing an employee and students work/college experience, and not exhausting and running them down by your poor style of management (managing via email).

    Pros

Great Company overall! Owners care about employees and the company has a sense of family values. The company has a good vision and direction in most areas.

    Cons

Some choices in upper management were made to only advance one individual at the expense of many other valuable employees. This caused immediate turmoil and turnover.

    Advice to Management

To seek opinions from successful employees before making significant changes in upper management that may immediately affect operations.

I worked at City College Florida full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Some employees are really great

    Cons

Too many to list but let's just say that every single negative review on here, I agree with whole-heartedly. It's a joke of a school and "'non-profit"? Maybe by the loosest standards ever possible. If this is non-profit, it goes to show you how messed up our system is. Spend 100 grand on SmartBoards for a ton of classrooms, but teachers don't even know how to use it. Congrats, you just bought 10,000 dollar projectors. Corporate office sits there, completely out of touch, never doing anything, but will never leave their roles because they can sit around with everyone else and all do nothing together. Maybe a "business lunch" on the students money? Maybe go fishing for some lobsters? Maybe just sit around and collect a six-figure salary, huh? Please don't make the mistake of falling for this place. Students are swindled into thinking this will better them. Stick with a community college. Otherwise you might as well burn the cash and it'll be a lot less stress and hassle

    Advice to Management

Resign and replace yourselves with people who will run City College like an actual functioning institution of higher learning, not a personal piggy bank. President died of alcohol abuse and I think maybe it had to do with the fact that he felt guilty for defrauding students and faculty that they were part of an actual school, not a business.

    Pros

I appreciate the personal concern the professors have for one another, and for the director of admissions, of finance, etc.

    Cons

I sometimes don't have enough work to do. I enjoy learning new things and I haven't been given that encouragement.

    Pros

Since your manager is unlikely to understand your job, you can really make what you want out of it. There's freedom to create your own projects and make your own decisions. Also, it's a job.

    Cons

The people running this school know nothing about education. The school hides behind the nonprofit label, but it is run just like a for-profit. Employees are subjected to mandatory Scientology (Pacific Institute) training. Nepotism is rampant, and everyone's got a brother or son who owns a company that provides services to the school. The admissions process is a joke, with admissions reps doing everything possible to enroll even the most unfit of students. The school offers entrance testing accommodations to students with disabilities and to those for whom English is a second language, but then provides no such services once the person becomes an actual student. Students are held to ridiculously low standards, and God help you if you end up in the hospital with one of the nursing graduates looking after you. Can't calculate a proper drug dosage to give your patient? Bah. No big deal. Pass 'em through!

    Advice to Management

Hire people who actually have experience/degrees in education, rather than recycling employees from within the for-profit educational world.

I worked at City College Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I helped students to accomplish their goal by completing their degree and finding the job of their dream.

    Cons

It was a difficult task as the student as any other students have great challenges with finances, family and other factor to help them complete their goals.

    Advice to Management

The students are your customer. They are the reason you are in business so make sure they are happy and you will be happy also.
