    Neutral Outlook

I worked at City of Champaign full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary, good benefits, IMRF pension, low-pressure, flexible hours, vacation and sick time, relatively secure positions.

    Cons

As in most government jobs, the main concern is to develop and follow policies, rather than innovate. Careers in rapidly-changing technology fields will stagnate working for government.

    Advice to Management

Much of your Information Technology work should be contracted out rather than full-time. Hire an excellent Director and spend resources keeping them up to date -- and demand results.
