I have been working at City of Charlotte for less than a year

    Pros

While there's bound to be some general public sector red tape at some point, the staff throughout the city government are some of the most passionate and knowledgeable people you'll find. Interns don't get benefits but I've compared them to the private sector - more often than not, the benefits are better than private sector. The staff are incredible understanding and there's a fantastic work-life balance. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else.

    Cons

Public sector red tape can be annoying but that would apply in any government job. Also, the quality of technology can really vary, which can make some tasks more difficult if your computer can't run the software you need.
