I have been working at City of Charlotte

    Pros

The City is different based on the department that you work in. Overall, it's a good place to work and the salaries are competitive for a government.

    Cons

Depends on where you work and who you work for. Some of the managers use intimidation tactics and upper management does not do anything about that. They let it happen.

I worked at City of Charlotte

    Pros

If you'd like to work for a place that has poor communication and no real direction, this is the place for you. Co-workers were great, other than that, no other motivation to keep the lights on. The ability to work from home when needed was great, however, this was taken away and caused low morale across IT.

    Cons

Upper management micromanages...mistakes aren't tolerated...processes are broken. Culture is intimidating and overall not a great place to work. With the right management in place, the city can become a wonderful place to work for again. I'd give it a couple years until management gets replaced. Things might get better. Management has a tough time tracking where IT needs to be. It looks good on paper, but there's a major disconnect from the paper to the doing.
