I have been working at City of Everett part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with in every department. Great in with the City, once you are in the City prefers to hire within so it is a great starting opportunity.

    Cons

Most of the jobs that are designed to be a Student Day Laborer were once full time jobs, with the need still for them to be full time but due to budgets the positions were cut back into a part time student day laborer 12$ an hour for jobs worth 20$ an hour.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay for the Students who are covering a full time job, part time while getting paid nothing for the skills being used.

    Pros

I like the job very much. I work at the City owned Golf Course, Walter Hall. I loves the hours. I work on the Maintenance crew. I like working outside...

    Cons

I wish it was full time. sometimes it really hot. I hate weed eating. One of the crew member is very weird

    Advice to Management

Need to have a better full time crew. don,t place people in jobs they can,t do. Same starting time all year long

    Pros

Supportive bosses, great subordinates, financially well managed.

    Cons

Some administrative systems are cumbersome. Can't install software on my city computer because only IT is allowed to do that.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

This was a summer job and it worked perfectly for me because I was in college and had summers off. It was great for that purpose. Many companies won't hire you for just three months. It was with the parks department and it was fun to work outside. It didn't pay all that well but then again it wasn't all that hard to do. It's true what they say about city workers. We had four to five of us doing the work of one to two guys. Mainly we just played cards and goofed around. I enjoyed my time there.

    Cons

The people you work with are pretty lazy and don't want to work.

    Advice to Management

Watch your people more. They don't work that hard and they're wasting tax payer's money.

I worked at City of Everett full-time

    Pros

Fun and worthwhile experience for a summer job
    Welcoming and accommodating environment
Many different areas for employment each of which are unique

    Cons

Low pay (but low stress job)
Seasonal positions are not allowed to go over 40 hours per week (i.e. no overtime)

    Advice to Management

Give more funding to summer programs. It will allow people (particularly children) to have more enjoyable summers. Nothing much else.
