    I worked at City of Fort Worth, Texas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The Pension is very good;

    There are many job opportunities but success depends on individual willingness to transition to other positions;

    Communication is adequate;

    Good leadership in some departments.

    Cons

    Some departments need a major overhaul starting from the leadership to the lowest level employee. Two departments have new leadership (last three years to current) and they are horrible. Some directors have been there with the City so long that it's no wonder the department is a mess! They are simply waiting for retirement;

    Benefits are horrible. They keep playing the plan to save money and all it is doing is confusing people;

    Policies and procedures are outdated. Doing things "the Fort Worth way" is hurting the City of Fort Worth!

    Advice to Management

    You don't know everything. Seek the advise if others, including those without fancy degrees and letters behind their name. Change is necessary. Stop fighting it!
