I have been working at City of Huntington Beach part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The management is very accommodating when it comes to things like college schedules. It's also very nice weather & there aren't any harsh or extreme climates that we have to deal with. At the beach there are a lot of events to look forward to during the year as well like the Huntington Beach Marathon, Huntington Beach Air Show, & US Open of Surfing.

    Cons

You have several people who won't respect what you say because you are just a "parking attendant". I've had several people pull up to me with open containers of alcohol in their cars & there is nothing that I can do other than tell them to throw it out because it's illegal. Another frustration is how many people litter on the beach & just don't care about how our beach looks or the health of the marine life because of what the litter does to the environment.
Several people also try to run the beach gates because there aren't bars to control the flow of traffic, only stop signs.

    Advice to Management

Please install remote control bars at the beach gates so that people are unable to run them & please fix the spike strips at all of the exits so that people cannot try to sneak in after the employees leave their booths for the night.

    Pros

    work outside, stay busy, co-workers

    Cons

1-4 days a month you're required to work early in the morning and it gets cold. The pay, but it should be a part time supplement.

I have been working at City of Huntington Beach part-time

    Pros

Very flexible schedule, the job isn't terribly taxing year round and a beautiful location.

Poor communication between management and employees, no opportunity for advancement, customers can be especially rude and threatening during the summer.
