I have been working at City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They have great on the job training and pay very well especially if this is your first job. They have various jobs within the aquatics for people as young as 15 starting at $15 per hour pay.

    Cons

They’re a little behind in the technology game. They aren’t up to date with viewing your paystubs, or finding out if your assignment changed. Everything is done manually and can get a little chaotic. There is also an hour cap for those who are part time only.

    Advice to Management

Do more things online and involve your employees. Pay more attention to your employees and treat them less like they’re replaceable.

Former Employee - Pool Manager in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fun relaxed environment at the city pools. Job is mainly used as a stepping stone for young adults going through college.

    Cons

Favilities are under management by some less competent full-time emloyees while others are extremely good at their jobs. They have their "groups" of personnel they like to bring back seasonally. Nepotism is HIGH in this division of LA.
