    Career of a life time.

I have been working at City of Lynnwood full-time

    Pros

The culture of the Rec Center is great, and there is a sense of community between the staff and patrons.

    Cons

Each supervisor may handle situations differently, and some of their managerial skill sets can lead to awkward or confusing situations.

    Advice to Management

Try to stay on the same page and keep on top of what is supposed to be happening, and when.

I have been working at City of Lynnwood part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities for moving into leadership positions. Great people to work with. Work-life balance is very good.

    Cons

No major that come to mind. Very fun environment to work in. Benefits are good too.

  4. "Good, fair place to work with its own set of peculiarities"

I worked at City of Lynnwood part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, once you prove you are competent you have lots of freedom when you teach. Teaching lessons can be a ton of fun if you can keep up your own energy. Pay increases nicely if you stay awhile. Some supervisors are great at being open and listening to what you have to say. Quarterly trainings make sure you know your stuff.

    Cons

Some supervisors play the favorites game. This job is a good stepping stone job, but not much room for advancement as there is a large need for guards/instructors, but a small need for supervisors.

  5. "Spotty"

    Cons

Morale issues, but seems to have valleyed out

I worked at City of Lynnwood full-time

    Pros

Some of the best staff ever, they are the only reason the City hasn't closed their doors. Hard working, committed to the citizens of Lynnwod. Outstanding folks on City Council.

    Cons

Mysoginistic, plays games with finances, don't understand what the word "Leadership" means. Small minded, petty, no long term planning or understanding of the long term effects of decisions. Needs professional management badly.

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead. And then get out of the way.

    Pros

They pay very well for the job. If you like working with kids it's a lot of fun and good experience.

    Cons

Sometimes counselors aren't really given enough support for how much autonomy they're given. Other than that, though, I don't have any complaints.

    Advice to Management

A little more oversight of what counselors are doing would have been helpful. Other than that, I had a great experience.
