I have been working at City of New York full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working in government is secure, and it offers good benefits, and an ok pension (still going to need to contribute greatly into a 401K, can't live off of pension).

    Cons

It is so boring and slow!!! I can't think of any occupation in the municipal government that will excited you enough to "want" to get out of bed. You'll be checking your calendar everyday counting down the +20 years of the same repetitive nonsense you'll have to do day-in and day-out.

    Advice to Management

None. You're tied down by bureaucracy. This is the name of the game. It all sucks.
