I have been working at City of Oklahoma City full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

PTO, Hours, Fulfilling work, Variety of different work,

    Cons

Very low raises , Favoritism , politics , toxic environment , relatives will get promotions/jobs

    Advice to Management

Lots of favoritism which creates snitches and a bad work environment. You will get rewarded more for bootlicking then actual hardwork. These bad managers (easy to spot they always keep a minion with them at all times) will harass employees simply because they do not like them! If you have management that has nothing better to do then harass employees , talk bad about them, and don't have any real work to do, get rid of the position! Whats the point of having someone around that ruins employees morale and work ethic. Why not get real management hired that will build a team up and cultivate hard workers. REWARD the good managers!!!, not the ones licking your boots the ones out there building up employees from good to great.

    Cons

low budgets, having non city but contracted boss was a big disappointment over the years. run down equiptment. no money to purchase newer equiptment. low pay scale to try &get quality employees {mechanic} to keep up run down equiptment.

    Advice to Management

that you ck. with your city paid managers are in the loop to voice our opinions about the non city bosses. Seems they have to much freedom.

I have been working at City of Oklahoma City (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoy working for the City of Oklahoma City. I have flexibility in my job, which is helpful since I am currently enrolled in a college program. I enjoy the professional environment and my colleagues I work closely with in my current position.

    Cons

The job application process is lengthy, it took 4+ weeks after my initial interview to start working. After the interview, I had to process paperwork with the main office. Once that background paperwork was processed, I received a phone call to schedule a health and drug screening. After I received my results from my health and drug screening I then was scheduled to meet with the HR Department to fill out all of my New Hire paperwork. Once I had met with HR I was able to start working my new job the following week. Again, it is a lengthy process for employment.

    Advice to Management

Some constructive criticism would be lack of communication. However, in many of the previous jobs I have had, lack of communication or the urgency of communication seems to be an issue across the board and to their defense the information lacking has never been so urgent that I felt that it was crucial. I would be able to provide better customer service if I had the information sooner.

    Pros

Retirement, holidays, Paid time off, Alot of friendly people, can learn a lot, work is always something different, flexible if you have emergencies, low pay, but higher than average benefits,

    Cons

Be prepared to MacGuyver jobs, lack of tools and PPE. Management seems 50/50 some want to help you in any way they can, others are quite the opposite! If you work hard, the only benefit you can count on is even more work. Alot of brownosers,

    Advice to Management

Lack of communication between upper and lower end of company are apparent. Hard working employees should be able to move up in pay faster.
