    Pros

There's lots of downtime and making the schedule was a huge plus too. I watched at least 2 seasons of my favorite Netflix show at the time while on the clock. They also paid for my WSI class

    Cons

Minimal amount of training. There is almost no room to move up once you're in a manager position.

    Advice to Management

I think some things should be more laid back. The management was already pretty great. We had weekly inservices that were sometimes strenuous.

I have been working at City of Orlando full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The city you serve is beautiful. Shifts are 24-on 48-off. Dept. is large enough for promotions. Pay is reasonable for the area.

    Cons

Might get stuck in a bus for a year to 18 month. Might have to put up with older set mentalities where senior guys might not like change.

    Advice to Management

To the management I would say they are the one responsible for the culture within the department. so, motivating those around you to progress in there field of practice, ie, medics and firefighters. To seek more advancement within their career.

I worked at City of Orlando full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, competitive salary and some opportunity to move.

    Cons

they may freeze your promotions for years. The government mentality could be challenging for someone coming from the private sector because it moves very slow and every change requires an act of heaven but if stability is what you are looking this is the place.

    Advice to Management

    Be sensitive to employers needs
