I have been working at City of Pearland - Texas full-time

    Pros

The city pays pretty well. Not the best in the area, but far from the worst. Lots of OT if you consider that a bonus.

    Cons

Insurance is horrible, city hall is moving toward forcing all employees to sign up for Kelsey care. Decreased the employer contribution to HSA from $1100 the first year (2015) to $500 this year plus FORCING employees to consent to a full physical to enjoy a discount on our premiums. Administration and supervisors turn a deaf ear to the problems of understaffing and poorly planned infrastructure.

    Advice to Management

Stop asking employees to take meaningless satisfaction surveys and act like you actually care what we have to say.

    Pros

Good people working for the city, lots of possibilities to advance, reasonable pay and retirement.

    Cons

Some management micromanages; lack of trust in the employees experience and knowledge; benefits have been drastically cut and the city is cutting every corner to save money, even at the expense of the employees.

    Advice to Management

Trust in the employees, allow them to do their jobs without looking over their shoulder.
