I worked at City of San Diego, CA full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Monday-Friday working with weekends off. Pay was pretty good to start at, they usually start you at mid pay range, but it varies for different people and positions. Flex credits to pay for your benefits. Downtown location, plenty of places to eat for lunch. Work independently most of the time. Diversity across the organization.

    Cons

Management was strict, dishonest, and not too friendly. I didn’t receive enough guidance and proper training. Didn’t get enough hands on tasks consistently, to effectively learn procedures. I was talked down to in a rude manner after being there for only 3 months. A lot of detail in this department, and they pushed me to know a broad variety of tasks in a short amount of time, which isn’t very efficient. Expected you to take notes instead of providing you with the work procedures, which they had beforehand. Lack of leadership and a lot of back and forth communication between different people in other departments to get certain tasks completed, if there was an error.
