I worked at City of Tempe full-time

    Pros

The best colleagues and managers! Free health insurance. A great amount of paid time off - including holidays, vacation time, and sick time. AZ state retirement. Tuition reimbursement. So many opportunities within the city!

    Cons

Parking - the 1/2 mile walk to and from the uncovered parking lot is zero fun when it's 120 degrees. I had taken on many tasks that used to be (and were supposed to be) done by someone making 3 times my annual salary, but I did not receive any additional compensation.

I worked at City of Tempe (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for a public internship.

    Cons

Cold calling and not a clear runway to full time employment. Didn't enjoy how management boasted about how "cheap" intern labor was, even through I knew it was a joke.

    Pros

They have a fun and relaxed environment where people can learn and grow. Perfect for high school and college students to learn and gain some experience in service.

    Cons

It is a very entry level job when working as a lifeguard, that said, moving up is at best slow and more typically, not going to happen. It is best as a first job opportunity instead of a career
