I have been working at City of Vaughan full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Pension Pension Pension Pension Pension

    Cons

Little training and development. Union is terrible. Schedules are terrible. Very little support from management. Don't want to pay out overtime but yet they have no problem hiring unnecessary supervisors and managers in the organization. Very bad morale. Terrible place to work.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of at least half of the supervisors. Not needed. Then perhaps overtime pay won't be such an issue instead of making operators work alone or short staffed.

I worked at City of Vaughan full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Stayed over 15 years, Some great people, good benefits

    Cons

Not being "in" with the managment means you never move up. Opening your mouth to bring up risk or call out behaviours leads to you being labled a bad apple. Incredible amount of back stabbing to move up . Over 200+ people conveniently "packaged out" over the last 5 years. (of a city that has 1000 full time employees. Thats ONE IN 5!!!!

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to what is happening. Provide career paths for people and STICK to them. Stop playing favorites with management. Your staff are corrupt and take remarkable amounts of kickbacks

I have been working at City of Vaughan full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good salary, good benefits, nice location, City Hall is beautiful, gym in the basement, staff (does not include managers) are good people

    Cons

Favouritism, Management is dismissive and rude, no transparency with how the budget is being spent, bullying, dictatorship, no positive feedback, no communication, hoarding the budget with no money for employees. No team meetings, no face to face with senior management, as they hide on the top floor.

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like a corrupt dictatorship. Stop managing with fear and playing mind games. The Chief ignores his staff and jdictates work to be done and never provides positive feed back. No one feels safe. Corruption is on all levels. No team environment, employee engagement does not exist. Anonymous Reporting is a joke, no communication from senior management to staff. Morale could not be lower. No one feels... appreciated. It's a very scary and sad place to work.
