I have been working at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-base salary -uncapped commissions (with bonus structure) -THE PEOPLE -The support from management -Freedom / little oversight -Opportunity for excellent pay, especially for recent grads ($90k+ is attainable your first year) -Making positive impacts in peoples' lives every day.

    Cons

-Hours can be long, as a sales job, if you are not motivated by earning your income, this may not be the best place for you. -Can be difficult if you do not have people skills / salesmanship -To do well here, you must have a passion for helping others.. many borrowers do not qualify when you first speak with them, so you must have a motivational drive to help others. -If you do not believe in yourself or feel that...

I worked at CityWorth Mortgage full-time

    Pros

    Relaxed environment with fun coworkers

    Cons

Deal with difficult loans and a lot of unqualified leads, team leads get a lot of the good leads and team members have to wait on quality calls to come in. Work at least 50 hours a week, not including every other Saturday.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in the current employees

I worked at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Very relaxed work environment, manage yourself

    Cons

24k base salary (at 50-60hrs per week it comes out to about $8.50 per hour), must sift through and take in mountains of unqualified borrower applications to find a hand full of potential borrowers, really low commission rate, very petty supervisors, very frat boy atmosphere, ramped nepotism, very little training, minimal investment made in processors and you can see the results, tough hours (50-60 per week) not a very...

I worked at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are some pros to working here. It is a good job for recent grads to get some work experience to put on their resume and the people there are really great i made some great friends there.

    Cons

The micromanaging is awful. I put in inquires about my manager and it was never taken seriously until after I quit. I thought it was a very toxic unhealthy work environment and i felt like pulling my hair out after work and dreading coming into work. Its a very new company and they had no structure or good foundation to work up from.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees complaints or more people will drop like flies and quit

I have been working at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - relaxed environment - not a lot of pressure - beer and pizza Wednesdays

    Cons

    - LONG hours - very little base pay - most people are not even selling loans - lots of college dropouts - frat type environment - people always using some kind of performance enhancing drug - LOTS of cold calling - work on Saturdays (on top of 10 hr days) - Tuesday work meetings make the day 11 hrs long

    Advice to Management

Quit focus on hiring new people when the people you have already are not given as much support as they need to be successful.

    Pros

Phenomenal staff, great office culture. Best work environment anyone just out of school could ask for.

    Cons

Compensation and benefits are paltry, hours are unnecessarily long, and the product/its target market are below industry standard.

I worked at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

If you're fresh out of college its a great place to get your foot into the mortgage world. They will hire you, train you, and even pay for your licenses. If you survive long enough (at least a year) it looks great on your resume for your next REAL job. While you're there, soak up everything you can, stay to yourself, and don't fall for their BS. -Pizza and beer every Wednesday -Relaxed atmosphere -Referral...

    Cons

For a company that hires fresh professionals straight out of college, the training is very light. On your first day you will feel lost, which is normal for the any first day at work, however a month later, you will still feel lost. The mortgage industry is truly complex and if you want to succeed you will need a solid senior loan officer/mentor to show you the ins and outs (you will not get that here). Succeeding...

I worked at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

If you read the rating from January 5 you’ll see all you need to know. You get beer and pizza on Wednesdays, work with young people, and work in a relaxed environment.

    Cons

If you read the rating from January 5 you’ll see all you need to know. You’ll be guilted into staying longer than the official 7 PM quitting time. If you’re not in with the “in” crew you won’t get web leads. The team leads hog the good leads for themselves.

    Advice to Management

If you read the rating from January 5 you’ll see all you need to know. They act like everyone makes it big here as long as you try, follow the script, and work hard. Not true.

I have been working at CityWorth Mortgage full-time

    Pros

Extensive training on site, laid back work environment, no dress code.

    Cons

Cityworth is a cool company at the beginning. They target kids just out of college that have never had a “real” job so they don’t have any expectations. You’re grossly underpaid and highly overworked. The management is immature, unprofessional, and couldn’t care less about the growth or well being of their employees. They send out company wide emails about “seeing the vision” and have recently just offered a higher incentive...

    Advice to Management

Instead of upping your incentive bonus because you’re “willing to pay good money to get good people in the door,” start paying the good people you already have more. If you treat your current employees as well as you do your new hires, you wouldn’t have as much turn around as you do now. Pizza and beer is only cool for so long.

I worked at CityWorth Mortgage full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Relaxed work environment, casual dress code - Possibility for good income, especially for a recent college grad - Beer and pizza on Wednesdays - Pay for training (in-house) and necessary licensing - Team leads and president sit amongst the staff, i.e. very approachable - Team members are always willing to help if you have a problem/question - Lower commission, so you will be closing more loans than other mortgage...

    Cons

    - Long work hours (9-7 and some Saturdays) and can be made to feel guilty for leaving at 7 - Do agree that the ratings are misleading on here. Incentivize employees to give a 5 star review. The recent long 1 star review on Jan 5 is very accurate though maybe a littler harsh on the rating. - Benefits are not that great: 12 days PTO, cheap medical & dental, but no 401k - Low salary starting out ($2k/mo + commission...

    Advice to Management

    - You're growing rapidly, so clearly the business plan is working. Found a great niche that is underserved and working perfectly for you. Keep that up. - Better benefits: increase PTO or teleworking opportunity(can forward calls to your cell), more healthcare choices, add a 401k - Better customer service: bankers will not call back potential borrowers if they do not qualify. Customers are always calling in and...
