I worked at Civeo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Office staff was fun to work with while it was open, however office was shut down at the end of 2015.

    Cons

Executive leadership unwilling to recognize staff in office and goes out of their way to avoid seeing them when in town for meetings.
American staff was treated as if they were less important than Canadian and Australian staff.
Employees worry from day to day whether they are in the next round of layoffs; over three quarters of staff laid off in a year and a half.

    Advice to Management

Get a new CEO, get into an industries outside of oil and gas. Put out a better quality product so customers actually return for multiple visits instead of going to the competition.

    Pros

Management and staff compensation is fair and competitive for the remote site accommodations industry. Overall working conditions are good to excellent. The company often promotes from within and offers opportunities for personal development and advancement.

    Cons

Oil industry down-turn has negatively impacted overall business model. A reduction in work sites and workforce has place greater responsibilities on fewer employees; affecting employee performance and customer satisfaction.

    Pros

The company no longer operated in the US

    Cons

Leadership is comprised of vision-less empire builders best noted for PowerPoint slide delegation.

    Advice to Management

Trim down the executive ranks to those who will actually be productive.

    Pros

My direct manager was wonderful, he was laid off as well

    Cons

Could have grown US operations very easily but did not want to put forth the effort, so instead they laid off most of the US employees

    Advice to Management

Honesty is a valuable resource, one that you should learn about.

I have been working at Civeo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Civeo is a great place to work for hard working individuals. People who are lazy at work, who complain a lot, or who don't generally get along with others won't like it here because they just don't belong. The company offers a lot of benefits, they treat their staff well when other companies just cut you loose, and they encourage you to find ways to make the company better.

    I love working here.

    Cons

We could use more structure, but then the lack of structure sometimes means that you can be flexible in your role.
After the economy tanked, there were a lot of people that lost their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Keep the people that want to work here and get rid of the few who aren't productive, passionate, or advancing the business.

    I worked at Civeo full-time

    Pros

Some of the best coworkers from around the world, friendships have lasted well past the job,, mostly from having to endure it together.

    Cons

Mismanagement, over management, management concerned with petty infighting or the personal opportunity to advance. Daily uncertainty about what amazing and stupid idea will arrive the next day and foul up the works.

    Advice to Management

You have some quality managers,, but quite a few that are definitely sub par. There are too many people in the middle between what goes on, and the ability to fix problems. Reward inciteful, responsible, caring management,,, cut the rest and do not replace.

    Pros

Salary is good and the people are very talented and good in their craft. Great team environment and camaraderie. Learned a lot working in this company.

    Cons

It's very unfortunate that the challenges in the oil sector caused a lot of layoffs in this company. The senior executives are also a bit too detached from the work/people in the front line.

    Advice to Management

I suggest that the company diversify its portfolio of businesses. This company has a lot of very talented people and could easily enter other avenues for business.
