Would you recommend PI to a young attorney? I'm finishing my 4yrs as a military attorney and will transition to civilian practice soon. I have mostly criminal litigation experience, but am considering personal injury, commercial litigation, or labor & employment. Graduated from a T25 law school with average grades. Hoping to find a practice area that's fulfilling and pays reasonably well. I'm drawn to fighting for underdogs, but am weary of getting trapped in repetitive high-volume work.
I recently declined to go to BLC because I felt the timing conflicted with my civilian job because I’m just on boarding onto a new project this week and the projected BLC date is in 2 weeks. I received an email saying my BLC date was canceled due to “refusal to attend training pending personnel action.” Is this bad? I was notified of BLC in July. My civilian job notified me of the change in May.
Pending personnel action? What personnel action is pending?
As a retired Army Officer, I am excited to apply for the Security Guard position. My years of military service have honed my leadership, crisis management, and situational awareness skills. I am committed to ensuring safety and security in this civilian role, bringing a disciplined and detail-oriented approach. Let's collaborate to create a secure environment. Best regards, Taj Bahadur
I have clinical depression and anxiety that is usually managed fairly well. However, I'm going through a very nasty divorce and custody battle. I just left active duty military so I'm readjusting to civilian life. It's a LOT. On top of this, I now work in a very toxic workplace with gossip, backstabbing, micromanagement, etc. I am looking for a new job, but could just use encouragement that there are administrative jobs out there that are not awful. Tell me your positive work stories!
Honestly, it toxic out here. But I find changing my mind set has helped A LOT. Focus on your work and maintain a good relationship with the people who has influence. As these are the folks who control whether you stay or not.
