    I worked at Claire's Stores full-time

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, opportunity to be promoted within store, learn basic knowledge of store operations, frequent incentive contest, 50% off employee discount with a few exclusions.

    Cons

Company downsized upper management by relieving district managers and adding more stores to each district. The company also added mini stores/displays inside of Toys R Us stores across the states in hopes of driving profit. This overwhelmed the remaining district managers and caused a HUGE lack of support and assistance to all store management. Terminating employees took months, calls and emails to DSM were never replied to, many store managers forced to take on district manager's tasks without pay compensation, and once you reach the store manager position the only opportunity for advancement is to become a district manager (unlikely since they are downsizing already) or too be transferred to a higher volume store for a possible pay increase (where most managers were permanent/long term employees who weren't going anywhere).
There was also a lot of very obvious favoritism and certain managers were able to get away with unprofessional behavior such as, missing work with no legit reason or doctors note, being absent from conference calls and holding up to everyday expectations of manager duties.
