    Pros

Great first job relaxed environment fun duties including piercing and a great corporate support team

    Cons

Not enough hours low pay not enough opportunity for advancement really meant for a teenager

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring managers from the outside. A lot of the workers deserved to be promoted but lost the promotion to someone external. Not a good way to inspire loyalty or confidence in employees

I have been working at Claire's Stores full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get a really good discount on the product, you also get to wear product for free during your shift.

    Cons

They underpay all employees, more severely the store managers. They give you bare bones hours for scheduling meaning the bulk of your shift will be alone. The company is pretty cheap so don't expect to receive things when your stuff breaks from being old. They don't pay you a liveable wage when being an SM. When visual packs come in, you have to do them during business hours because they don't give you hours for overnight shifts. And you guessed it, if you do an overnight move, those overnight shifts will be alone because it comes from your 40 hour work week. They do have a bonus program if you make your goals etc. per quarter. They give it to you categorized as a gift so 40% of taxes come out before you get it. So expect to work hard without much payoff.

    Advice to Management

Pay your workers for the work they do and will do. Paying so little is not only selfish but super devaluing to your employees.

    Pros

Working with younger children to help put a smile on their face..Liking the product.. Insurance options for hire members of management..

    Cons

Insurance is extremely expensive.. underpaid underappreciated.. not enough hours to properly run a store which results in numerous one person coverage.. going without lunch breaks or restroom breaks.

    Advice to Management

Keeping the hours down and the pay rate down guarantees the quality people that you were going to have in your establishment.

I worked at Claire's Stores full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Customer interaction, great discounts, fun environment

    Cons

Minimal employees, unorganized, chaotic backroom organization

    Advice to Management

3 ASM in a 6 month time, common sense should tell you its the Store Manager not the employees

  10. "It was an ok place to work for."

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Claire's had pretty good benefits and vacation time. The discount was good too. It was pretty cool to learn to pierce ears.

    Cons

Not enough hours were given to have proper coverage in the stores to get everything done and be able to keep an eye on shoplifters. High turnover rate. Planogram/floor changes were expected way too often.

    Advice to Management

Give more hours so the employees don't have to stress out about getting all tasks done while keeping theft down. Slow down on planogram.
