I have been working at Claremont McKenna part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working at CMC's Career Services center as a Career Consultant is a good gig. While it can be stressful at times when many students are in the office requiring your assistance, the office is often quite allowing time to do homework or pursue other interests.

The staff are amazing. Students are involved in decision making and are constantly be asked for input of all varieties. Very transparent. Generally an open door policy with the staff.

There is always coffee and often pastries of some sort brought in by a staff member.

Fellow Career Consultants are very reliable and generous about covering shifts, even if it's last minute.

    Cons

During busy times, specifically during the beginning of the year, you can be asked to work multiple info sessions as well as Career Fairs and open houses. This can be stressful but for the majority of the year the expected hours are very minimal. Although there is almost always an opportunity to up your hours by covering someone's shift or working an info session or other event.

    Pros

They are making incredible strides in reimagining the student experience and providing a well-rounded experience for the student body.

    Cons

For such a small school there are incredible amounts of silos that keep departments and institutes quite separate from each other.

I have been working at Claremont McKenna part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Claremont is a beautiful campus and a great college (situated next to the other four Claremont Colleges). The small student body size makes for a great but still well-connected community.

    Cons

People sometimes get stuck in the "Claremont Bubble" and get a little out of touch with reality. Otherwise, the work experience is pleasant and the compensation is appropriate for student employment.
