I worked at Clarins full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Ability to share opinions openly and often. Environmental values. Creative ideas to expand and learn. Head Office recruits from store frequently.

    Cons

As a company it is slightly stuck in their way, but I've seen a lot of people who are ready for change. This attitude moved forward a great deal while I was there I think they will only get better. Its a good time to join the company if you are willing to bring fresh ideas to the conversation.

I have been working at Clarins

    Pros

Great allocation Great initial training Fantastic products

    Cons

Treatments are packed in like sardines in a can! You have no turn around time and this causes a very intense high pressure atmosphere. Breaks are often cut short or missed. Even if there is a gap to move your break to due to missing it you are told you can’t move it incase a customer walks in and what’s an appointment. On a busy day when you are back to back with ten clients you have not time to eat or go to toilet and if your on your period and having a heavy flow it’s a nightmare especially when wearing light coloured trousers. They also say that it’s your responsibility as a therapist to manage your time wisely. 40 minute appointment 30 minutes of hand on treatment. 10 minutes for before and after care. Customers arrives at 10.30 and checks in completing medical questionnaire this can take as quickly as one minute or three minutes depending on the clients speed. The Therapist then reads through and checks the client is ok for treatment. Client then has consultation for the treatment they are about to have and the procedure is explained. At around 10.36 the treatment is started and 30 mins later client is sat up. You then have less then 4 minutes to recommend products, close the sale, pop treatment and products through the till, get samples of remaining items recommended but not purchased and rebook them in for there next treatment and stamp their loyalty card. If there is a queue of staff always at the till putting counter customer sales through your stuffed! If the client has several questions your also done for! You are now running 5 mins late in to your next treatment and the process begins again. At the end of the working day you have just 20 mins to clean close station and do figures but this time is normally eaten in to!

I worked at Clarins full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Good skincare, especially body products - Generous allocation - Realistic and fair targets - Some excellent colleagues, tends to hire nice people - Good training - Has some really good counter managers - Really does put the customer first

    Cons

    - Essentially minimum wage - Long days on feet - Difficult to take holidays - Lord help you if you fall ill! - Only 1.5% commission - A lot of cosmetics are truly dreadful - Small uniform allocation which is difficult to replace. Employees generally look rather scruffy as uniforms are worn out - Some trainers can be very condescending and patronising whereas some are excellent - Trained to make false claims about products - Preaches equality and diversity yet sells only pale foundations and skin bleaching products! - A general culture of denial in which you will be outcast for simply being honest or bringing issues you have forward. Nobody brings complaints forward as they know what will happen to them, even if these complaints involve racism. - Management turn a blind eye to any complaints about bullying, harassment or gross misconduct. - Beauty Coaches are by far the most rude and unprofessional people I have ever met during my time in the industry. They need a responsible adult to travel with and manage them. - Head Office are deaf to concerns or criticisms about certain products which is why so many are discontinued - In general, the company needs to redirect money away from R&D and towards marketing and merchandising. There are constantly unnecessary new products being bought out and good old ones being discontinued.

I have been working at Clarins full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Clarins girls are some of the nicest people I’ve worked with. Amazing allocation, 9 skincare and 6 makeup every three months. 1.5% allocation on whatever you sell, regardless if you hit target or not. Reasonable targets.

    Cons

Impossible to take your holiday, Clarins always seem to be on GWP. No recognition if you do counter stretch target. No recognition if you are excelling your personal target. (1.5% of comm no mater what.) Makeup is embarrassing. Allocation sometimes is filled with things that won’t suit you, example your a 20 year old with the new super restorative cream (50+ cream) or your a 50 year old with the new my clarins cream (15+). HR are useless with helping you deal with area managers, everyone sticks together.
