    Pros

make your own schedule (choose if/when to take open jobs), know pay ahead of time, make a difference in the lives of children

MIS/DP Technology Specialist (One-size-fits-all job title)

Oct 3, 2018 - MIS/DP Technology Specialist in Las Vegas, NV
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Serving students and helping them succeed in the classroom through information technology. New Superintendent of Schools Jesus Jara succeeded Pat Skorkowsky as District CEO; too soon to tell if Jara will make a difference or maintain the status quo.

    Cons

Low wages with no raises/COLAs, poor and ineffective support staff union (ESEA-NEA), poor morale. Department heads/adminstrators take advantage of generic job titles to take advantage of employees by having people work above/beyond their classifications without fair and commensurable compensation. Training/growth opportunities are slim to none, and favortism is rampant.

It's better than not having a job but that's about it

Mar 22, 2018 - Project Facilitator in Las Vegas, NV
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Most are genuinely friendly people that want to make a difference -For the most part, it's a stable job/paycheck with good work/life balance

    Cons

-No room for growth unless you want to be a school administrator -Shockingly low pay, even with advanced degrees -Terrible health insurance - the worst I've ever had -Understaffed/underresourced -Awful people seem to keep their jobs/just get moved around -Pay raise freezes -Constant budget cuts
