Not worth the stress or your sanity
Aug 19, 2020 - Administrative Secretary in Las Vegas, NVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Decent Pay, Weekends off, Holidays off with some paid, on a School Schedule
Cons
Very disorganized school district. Constant freezes on your pay scale. Constant rifting every year on Support Staff so job is not secure. Don't get paid during the Summers and you are not allowed to collect unemployment when school is not in session. Admin at schools will take full on advantage of your good work ethic.

Pros
I had the opportunity to meet some talented, skilled teachers and assistants. The school district is very diverse, and there are many training opportunities is you choose to seek them out.
Cons
Upper level administration is very disconnected from the students and staff at the school building level. Case load and general laws for special education are loosely followed.

Substitute Teacher

No boss following you around
Cons
the school district is a mess. If you want to keep your happiness, don't work for them.

Secondary English Teacher

Great students and a community that's dedicated to education
Cons
School district is top-heavy: way too many administrators and not nearly enough teachers or resources for schools
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Decent pay, good health insurance
Cons
Very disorganized school district. I felt like there were many inefficiencies and unnecessary jobs at the district level.

Good job, poor management
Nov 5, 2016 - Teacher in Las Vegas, NVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get to help kids and coworkers are great for the most part.
Cons
Awful management depending on the school and the district hands down new policies with little consideration for the teachers.

Pros
Nice cheap buffets and generally housing is cheaper than California.
Cons
No job security. Administrators use the registration process to destroy teachers they do not like. They will place as many unruly students as possible in the classes of teachers they don't like. I verified this with two different union reps. It is common knowledge that this is a very corrupt district. One administrator I worked with is in prison. You can do better. There are better school districts out there to work for. Most teachers leave the district before the end of their ten year anniversary. You will lose half your social security if you take out a pension from the Clark County School District and The Nevada pers. This could destroy your retirement years especially if you have less than twenty years of service. Think about it! This is one place you do not want to work!

Pros
There are a lot of different positions in the school district depending on what you want to do. The application process is simple, but lengthy.
Cons
there are always budget cuts within the district so there are no raises and u will normally take a pay cut from time to time in your position. There is also no growth opportunity because you are still going to be lateral in your position.
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Large school district in need of many teachers, so it can be very easy to get a job. There are many great schools in the district.
Cons
They are in need of many teachers for a reason. The school district continuously denies teacher raises and ignores arbitration results. Many schools are understaffed and underfunded.

The school district itself does not respect teachers
