I have been working at Clark Nexsen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Diverse jobs in which to practice engineering.
Work with many different types of people from all different walks of life.

    Cons

There aren't many opportunities for training on a day to day basis for people with less experience.
Groups tend to work in silos.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to train those that are doing the work.

    Pros

    Interesting contracts to work on

    Cons

Pay does not reflect experience or workload. Management will not listen to how and what it will take to get a job done and expect others to work 16+ hour days to get the job done. If you do not work the hours then you are reprimanded. Management treats employees as numbers, not people, and when they actually talk to people they talk down to employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people and treat them with respect.

    Pros

    Great work life balance
    Friendly environment
    Approachable management
Opportunities to work with multiple disciplines
    Opportunities to travel on occasion

    Cons

No bonuses, as the company seems to struggle with profitability
    Top heavy regional management

    Advice to Management

Move on to other companies. Seek your own new opportunities and make way for fresh, new talent from within and outside the company help shake the stagnant, "old-boy's club" that makes up the top tier BOD incumbents.

    Pros

Fun people and nice projects if you are one of the chosen ones.

    Cons

Peter Aranyi is the worst PIC ever. Does not know how to get out the way and allow people to grow professionally. The most fake person I have encountered in my life. Cut benefits to pay top management. No respect.

    Advice to Management

    Get Peter off the Board.

    Advice to Management

Support employees delivering projects on time and under budget with better compensation. Need better reward system for talented employees.

I worked at Clark Nexsen full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with and for. Talented, experienced, and knowledgeable people.

    Cons

Unfortunately due to some RIFs, morale is low and pay increases haven't happened in a long while.

    Advice to Management

There are many people that don't respect the HR department due to lack of HR knowledge and tack.

    Pros

There are a bunch of good people there. Made a bunch of great friends that I still hang out with to this day.

    Cons

Upper management is running the ship into rocks. A lot of chiefs and not enough indians. most of the work is government but can be their down turn when work drys up and they lay off most of their work force.

    Advice to Management

Look back to older management and see how they made it work.

I worked at Clark Nexsen full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They have a proven record of possessing a diversified range of services. This has allowed them to stay in business during the great recession. They held onto several employees longer than most corporations would have without revenue to support them which is admiral. They offer summer hours which is a very very nice benefit.

    Cons

Lack of vision and plan for growth beyond regional status. They spend too much money on "corporate culture" items that could be used for salaries. That is always a hard line to walk. They recently moved into a very expensive rent area, possibly at the expense of jobs?

    Advice to Management

Expand the vacation beyond two weeks for the first five years.
