Pros
1. Managers and partners are extremely friendly and helpful 2. No question is stupid, all staff are there to help you learn and grow in the field 3. Workload is reasonable considering what a typical busy season looks like
Cons
1. Technology is rather outdated and can make engagements take longer than they should.

So glad that you had a positive experience with us! I can not begin to tell you how much we appreciate our interns, thankyouthankyouthankyou for all of your hard work! It is soooo difficult to keep up with tech---it can be overwhelming deciding what will better the lives of our clients, communities and employees, and then getting it all folded in to the existing systems. I know there were at least two new systems enhancements that went live this busy season, and that there are more on the horizon, so stay-tuned!

Pros
They say you don't work for a company; you work for your manager. I have yet to come across a manager at CSH who doesn't care about me as a person. They are invested in your development and your growth. Other perks: - Anytime/Anywhere Work Policy, I work from home most of the time. - Company Culture - Investment in DEIB efforts - Foward-thinking leadership and growth efforts
Cons
We say we're "one firm" but a lot of the offices are divided. I would love to see our offices come together more.

Pros
Clark Schaefer Hackett has had an Anytime Anywhere work policy since March 2020 that has provided great flexibility for associates. They also offer a package of benefits that includes health care, profit-sharing, disability, wellness incentives, and employee assistance programs among others. While fledgling, they have implemented an Advancing Women in Leadership (AWIL) firmwide initiative that has helped working mothers in our firm if no one else.
Cons
Clark Schaefer Hackett places an increasingly HUGE emphasis on billable hours over investment (i.e. PTO, CPE, volunteer, etc.) hours and yet will reprimand employees either in real-time or in semi-annual/annual reviews for blowing budgeted hours. (How is the budget decided, you ask? Either a number is pulled out of a hat or the service manager is using empirically bad historical data because associates feel pressure to eat hours.) While billable hours are not unique to just this one accounting firm, the stress it puts on associates is real. I cannot tell you how many friends I've lost over the years because of the terrible work/life balance. Not only that but the hours charged really don't have any bearing on what we're charging clients. If there is a prenegotiated rate with a client (that barely keeps up with inflation but that's beside the point), why does it matter how many hours are in the WIP? It's merely a metric used to berate staff. Rather than fix the billable hour issue (or any issue really), their 'cure-all' solution is to place an employee engagement survey in the field...and then promptly place its filings in the special filing cabinet known as the trash can. 'They've talked themselves out! That should automatically make them feel better. Why do we need to change anything?!' The percentage rate increases in salaries from year to year are nebulous in terms of how they're determined from employee to employee and don't keep up with inflation. 'We are committed to competitive compensation and meaningful benefits' rings hollow when other employers in our immediate area are providing their associates not only with end-of-year bonuses if they hit certain parameters but also with a mid-year cost of living increase. What good is 5-weeks of PTO if you can only cash out 40 hours once a year and employees feel like they can't take time off for fear of missing budgeted hour goals?

Thank you sincerely for being a valued member of the Clark Schaefer Hackett team for over 9 years. Having so much experience in the industry, and having so much experience with us as we change and grow, gives you a unique perspective that we prioritize. We know that it takes significant time and effort to share your concerns with us, and we appreciate your feedback and your honesty. We would first like to let you know that your concerns are going to the desks of those who make decisions about the employee experience in our Human Resources department. We never want you to feel as though we collect your opinions and toss them aside. Our team works very hard to process and truly understand the feedback we are given so that we can develop strategies to ensure our employees and our clients are protected and feel respected. Sometimes that process takes time, and sometimes changes are made and, perhaps, not communicated as efficiently as we'd like. You may not always see what we're working to improve, but we assure you we are building solutions, and we hear you. That is not to say that we are perfect -- we are not -- but we are growing. We are so honored that you continue to grow on this journey with us. While we recognize that this is an anonymous platform, and we absolutely respect your right to remain anonymous, we would love to learn more from you. If you would like to, you can reach out to talent@cshco.com, and we can book some time for you to speak with the right people, hear more detail about your concerns, and follow up more fully. Again, thank you for all of your hard work.

Pros
The pay is really good. A few managers were super nice and open. They really want to get to know you outside of work. They are very flexible regarding your work environment.
Cons
Quite a few cliques. Communication was lacking. The older shareholders and former shareholders are super nice; however, the younger employees were uninviting.

Pros
I like the Flexibility and Freedom in the workplace which allows me to perform my tasks efficiently and without stress. People and teams being that in India or US have been extremely helpful and I have seen Managers/Shareholders going extra miles to make life easy for those who joined new. This is a growing company with lots of opportunities in offer and Management definitely always follows an employee first policy.
Cons
Nothing I have noticed so far.

Pros
The digital team I am on is incredible. Everything gets done in a time efficient manner, and managers are helpful and work along side with you on projects. The benefits are fantastic! You accumulate PTO rather quickly. Work anywhere anytime policy.

Sometimes with the work anywhere anytime policy it can be hard to reach co-workers at certain times.

Teams and managers are focused on consistently raising the bar in all areas of the firm. 'Dress for your Day' policy was a pleasant surprise. Firm makes investments in all professionals to advance their technical and soft skills. Great PTO benefits.
