I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work-life balance and flexibility- Outside of busier months (Mid-Jan to Mid-April), 40 hours is pretty much the norm. There are plenty of opportunities to work from home, leave early, arrive late, etc. Even during busy season, most people average 60 total hours per week. Compensation is competitive with other firms in the industry.

    Cons

Somewhat unclear year-to-year expectations and career progression path when compared to the big four and large regional firms.

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Amazing feedback in which the firm utilizes a once a month coaching meeting - Great opportunities to learn and explore different areas of taxation and accounting - Good sense of workplace camaraderie and support through the CPA Exams. - Highly advise working here if a recent college graduate.

    Cons

    - Work Saturdays during busy season (But only for a few hours and they provide breakfast and lunch and even massages!)

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The support system is all encompassing, every single person has an open door attitude. No question is too small or insignificant to be answered. Management encourages you to succeed. Flexible work schedule within reason. Allowed to work from home as long as you keep your managers informed and are accessible to be contacted.

    Cons

Benefit package could use a little bit of work. Profit share is nice, but 401(k) match would be amazing.

    Advice to Management

Keep being transparent about the direction of the firm.

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I genuinely enjoy working for this company. They really care about helping employees get involved in the community. Another great perk is management is usually flexible if you need to work from home, which is great if something comes up and you can't make it into the office you're still not missing out on a day of work.

    Cons

Like most public accounting firms, there are long hours. Not as competitive with benefits (PTO, etc)

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time

    Pros

    - Good pay for amount of hours expected - Busy season hours are nowhere near Big 4 firms (less hours expected = happier employees) - Firm wide and team specific get togethers / happy hours are frequent - Volunteer activities throughout the year - Casual dress - Stocked kitchen - A lot of women leaders, which shows our diversity - Great external training opportunities throughout the year - Ability to build a relationship...

    Cons

Benefits could be better (although 401k has a discretionary profit share, a match would be a nice touch as well). Also, although the firm is improving on this, technology updates / new software & applications have been slower to roll out.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be more transparent with firm initiatives and changes. Some recent success with this has been great, but with such a large millenial workforce, the expectation is to always be in the know.
