I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company continuously works to get you involved in the accounting from day 1 - from working with shareholders, to business owners, to your peers. This results in a much quicker learning curve and experience that was unexpected - but a great value. The best thing about the firm are the people, by far. It is a great work environment and I genuinely enjoy most everyone with whom I work. The company has invested in multiple initiatives to increase the already positive atmosphere, which is encouraging. I would recommend to all my friends and family seeking a career in public accounting.

    Cons

Like any public accounting firm, long hours are expected during busy season (typically not more than 65-70) and job promotions and salaries are not as transparent as other firms.

    Advice to Management

Provide more structure / expectations on what is to be expected of senior, manager, shareholder roles and what the compensation structure looks like for each. Knowing what the ultimate goal is to work towards will either help encourage current employees to continue working hard or weed out those who do not have the same expectations earlier instead of later.

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If I had to describe this company in one word it would be "genuine". Everyone is extremely welcoming, encouraging, and invested in making sure you have a successful future ahead of you. They are always reevaluating goals, keeping staff up to date, and constantly thinking of different ways to involve team members in firm wide initiatives. The management team is extremely knowledgeable and is always looking to mentor newer staff.

    Cons

Not as competitive with benefits (No maternity / paternity leave etc.).

    Advice to Management

Continue to mentor and grow staff. Do not shy away from new ideas and changing times. Try to keep adapting to the incoming generations in order to retain team members longer.

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are great people at this company and work can be really fun. You gain a lot of experience quickly given the size.

    Cons

Salary does not seem competitive at times, and while they promote a good work life balance, this can be questionable at times. Very old fashioned in terms of salary/bonuses/benefits.

I have been working at Clayton & McKervey full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I actually like the people I work with everyday. Everyone is more than willing to help you and answer questions. I feel like some places just say that have an "open door" policy, but I feel like I really can discuss any issues or concerns with my supervisor. Work/life balance isn't bad.

    Cons

    It can be overwhelming sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to develop staff.
