I worked at Clean Harbors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, work life balance was superb!

    Cons

EVERYTHING ELSE - benefits were awful to begin with and were cut every year. Wages were stagnant. All focus is on client relations while employees are treated like the stuff you find at the bottom of a shoe. Regular lay-offs. Providing constructive criticism is a career limiting activity. Poor morale has resulted in an apathetic work force who believes getting by is enough.

    Advice to Management

Step down and put new people with new ideas in place. Executives complain a lot about headwinds to success. At what point will the clowns and sycophants at the top realize they are ill equipped to navigate them? Alan should be proud of what he built, but now it's time for someone that knows how to run a business of this scale to take the wheel (while taking all his yes-men with him). Until that happens...good luck, you'll need it.

I worked at Clean Harbors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are really good people who care about the job they do and are doing the best they can with what they are given.

    Cons

This truly is the most toxic and dysfunctional environment I've ever worked. It's an environment that stifles creativity and does not foster innovation or new ideas. As a result, they are constantly reacting and not being proactive. You have various departments trying to cover themselves and blaming other departments when something goes wrong rather than accepting responsibility and working towards a solution. This all trickles from the top down. Leadership only wants to be told what they want to hear and as a result things keep running the same way despite serious red flags on compliance, health and safety & human resource issues. Employees are seen as a means to an end rather than valuable resources. This is shown in the cutting of 401K match, lack of raises and constant increase of health benefit costs.

    Advice to Management

There is none since Leadership does not listen to their employees. Leadership is the problem because of the way they micromanage every aspect of the business and don't allow their employees to have meaningful input or manager their business.

    Pros

There really isn't any i can think except for a few good co workers. But most of the good people left.

    Cons

Little to no guidance and there is no room for growth. Also benifits are horrible. There is no communication at all.

    Advice to Management

Promote a good work environment. Try training people and promoting within.

I have been working at Clean Harbors full-time

    Pros

Ability to get lots of hours, good co-workers.

    Cons

Very under paid, constantly asked to go above and beyond to help offset not hiring people, overworked managers who allow too many issues to continue to happen, no HR support, payroll will not help you and everyone in HR wants to pass you around and not help though I do think it is all their fault the company does not seem to value HR, I have never worked for a company who just wings it so much, they keep taking from us and expect us to keep giving.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and look at your company, you are clueless to the workforce and what we are required to go through for your profits.
