I worked at Clean Harbors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, work life balance was superb!

    Cons

EVERYTHING ELSE - benefits were awful to begin with and were cut every year. Wages were stagnant. All focus is on client relations while employees are treated like the stuff you find at the bottom of a shoe. Regular lay-offs. Providing constructive criticism is a career limiting activity. Poor morale has resulted in an apathetic work force who believes getting by is enough.

    Advice to Management

Step down and put new people with new ideas in place. Executives complain a lot about headwinds to success. At what point will the clowns and sycophants at the top realize they are ill equipped to navigate them? Alan should be proud of what he built, but now it's time for someone that knows how to run a business of this scale to take the wheel (while taking all his yes-men with him). Until that happens...good luck, you'll need it.

    Pros

Ability to get lots of hours, good co-workers.

    Cons

Very under paid, constantly asked to go above and beyond to help offset not hiring people, overworked managers who allow too many issues to continue to happen, no HR support, payroll will not help you and everyone in HR wants to pass you around and not help though I do think it is all their fault the company does not seem to value HR, I have never worked for a company who just wings it so much, they keep taking from us and expect us to keep giving.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and look at your company, you are clueless to the workforce and what we are required to go through for your profits.

I have been working at Clean Harbors (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work with great people day in and day out. Very interesting industry and learn a lot

    Cons

Executive leadership very secretive about direction of the company. Constantly changing things without proper follow through. Make changes without having appropriate background items ready like job descriptions or bonus structure.

    Advice to Management

rather than finding ways to not have to pay bonus dollars. Give employees obtainable goals and the company could be very successfull

    Advice to Management

    - no raises in years
    - no room for career advancement or growth
    - top heavy (too many chiefs not enough Indians) so many VPs doing nothing all day

I have been working at Clean Harbors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have only been here a little over a year, but so far local management is supportive and allow you to put your ideas and initiatives in place. Flexible when life happens and allow you to flex your schedule when needed.

The company is looking for ways to grow and welcome new ideas. Decent benifits, gym reimbursment, typical vacation and PTO policy.

    Cons

The company is still trying to find ways to save money and trim the fat which is typical in business, however, if you are not contributing or your job can be split up and completed by others, you may be in jepordy.
