I worked at Clear Channel part-time

    Pros

Very nice facilities and equipment that the company does a good job maintaining. People are generally friendly, at least in that superficial, Office Space kind of way.

    Cons

They are very cheap. They don't want to make anyone full-time because they don't want to pay anyone benefits if they don't have to. Even if you are full-time you aren't doing too well. Some staffers had gone over 5 years without a raise. Despicable.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people, and they'll take care of you.

I worked at Clear Channel (Less than a year)

    Pros

Highly recognizable radio stations and iHeart Radio
    Good base base and benefits

    Cons

    Zero in bound lead generation
    No CRM

    Advice to Management

Invest in a CRM. When a salesperson invests time in choosing a target company, finding the right person to talk to and starts contacting that person only to find out someone else on the team is already working on it...it stinks!!

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun environment. (Mostly) great people. Occasional tickets to concerts and free lunches. The work was fairly simple and straight forward.

    Cons

Pay was below average. The cost of benefits kept going up. Manager wasn't knowledgeable about what they were really doing, was a hardcore micromanager and would talk down to employees constantly.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers for this position who have experience in all things web.

I worked at Clear Channel (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company with great people. Had a lot of opportunities to meet a lot of great people and even the occasional local and national celebrity.

    Cons

I could have had more opportunity to try other aspects of the business other than just sales.

    Advice to Management

Just be more involved and have a more drawn out plan for their interns in general not to much to complain about otherwise.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun concerts, met lots of my rock idols and many interesting people.

    Cons

Too many hours and too little money. Ruthless work environment.

    Advice to Management

Try to foster a warm, creative environment. Don't give in to the pressure - it depresses creativity and focus which will then get you lower ratings.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is great & I loved majority of my co-workers. They had great perks. The marketing and promotions departments were amazing & would be more geared to my line of work. If I could I would work in another department such as the marketing, PR or in promotions. Majority of the AM personalities are amazing & I became friends with them. Overall, it was a great entertainment experience.

    Cons

The sales department was a hard place to work with. It was cut throat and not a place for me. I would work in any other department.

    Advice to Management

Sales be more aware of your staff. Remember that your support staff is trying to help as fast as they could. Some AE's are really rude and make the work environment a horrible place to be in. This creates horrible productivity because people don't want to work when they're treated like nothing.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love the radio business but...

    Cons

The St Louis leadership starting with Dennis L. (his wife was a manager) and now Beth D. Poor leadership. I would not follow in to battle. "Go up and down Manchester Rd. and collect business cards and bring them back." Huh?

    Advice to Management

Read Dale Carnegie. Quit playing games.
