Real work. This wasn't a coffee run internship. I had a wonderful set of samples of aired work when I left. Hard, fast paced, and wonderful Really helped prepare me for future employment.

    Cons

Would have liked to spend more time learning about events.

    Pros

Go to different sites and interact with people. Also, sometimes go to free concerts for work but get to stay afterwards.

    Cons

Sales part of this job is really boring. The actual employees aren't bored by it because they can actually do something. Interns are held in the dark and aren't really allowed to do much here just assist the employees.

    Advice to Management

Trust the interns and let them do more things. Overall great experience, let all the interns interact with each other too so they can make bonds and work better together.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with. Dedicated and loyal. Always a fun light atmosphere.

    Cons

Too much oversight. Strangling upper management. Overpaid order takers. it's like working for Nazis. They are constantly jamming directives from some clueless exec. down your throat. Things that have very little to do with your format. Driving audience away in the name of the almighty dollar. Very small picture view. Taking money from management companies and record companies then forcing all stations to play that artist several times a day. They don't seem to care if it fits the format you present. They don't give you a choice.

    Advice to Management

Let programmers do their job. Quit killing the ratings! Give stations a choice to run your national directives that you pretend are "Best Practices". you can't call it best practices every time you want to jam pointless directives down our throats. If and when it fits, its fine. Most times it doesn't. And this is radio, for programmers, it's supposed to be a creative environment. Weed out the Managers killing the vibe. Start in Modesto and head South. Micro management is no way to run a radio station.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

not the hardest of daily tasks but that can also be a con in terms of getting mundane, although there were interns to help with the more frivolous tasks. radio work felt "cool" and there was a work hard, play hard team environment.

    Cons

growth within the company seemed difficult only in terms of time, it seemed as if i would have to wait forever to move up but that may have just been the . also, long work hours because there was a lot to be done, but again, the work itself wasn't difficult so not that much of a con

    Advice to Management

pay more attention to employees in terms of incentives, allow growth to be more possible!!
