I worked at Clear Channel part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a producer for 3 local news-talk programs for WRVA, I learned my way around a board, how to edit and finalize audio in less than 15 seconds, and I developed an on-air personality through my interactions with the hosts. That helped me to land a gig DJing for the local indie radio station, WRIR which I love.

    Cons

Clear Channel is an utterly evil corporation owned by the Romney family with it's tendrils sucking the life out of low-paid college students across the country. I slaved away with no hope of a raise, worked insane hours, and had to put up with affronting and insulting political opinions that often targeted me. It was not a happy place for me.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to offer raises to those who deserve it, stand up for your employees.

I worked at Clear Channel as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I spent a summer as an intern for a local radio station and it was an amazing experience. Office environment felt professional, but relaxed.

    Cons

While I enjoyed my internship, I don't think it added any real value to my resume when looking for full-time job post graduation.

    Advice to Management

Consider compensating promotional interns and giving them more responsibilities to apply to the real world.

I have been working at Clear Channel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Love working in the entertainment field.

    Cons

The health plan is getting worse year by year. Used to offer United Health Care, then created their own "Clear Channel Health Care" with an EPO and an HSA. They now have eliminated the EPO plan and only offer an HSA. Workers outside of sales and programming are drastically underpaid.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a great reach and good brand recognition. If you like radio, this is your opportunity to work in radio.

    Cons

You will eventually get laid off. It doesn't matter how many cuts you make it through… eventually they will get to you… and you will be gone. The company is completely ruining radio and running it into the ground. Also the pay is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Stop ruining radio and getting rid of great talent for no reason.
