I worked at Clearwater Paper full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Benefits, some good middle management, some good workers to get things done despite work environment

      Cons

A post on LinkedIn sums up management at the mill: A bad company is run on politics, a good company is run on good ideas. Clearwater is run on politics(buddy system, power games, etc.). Maintenance personnel come in at all hours to get overtime when there is no work to perform. OEMs are onsite to take care of equipment. Very expensive onsite service contract. No mill expertise is developed for this equipment. ...

I worked at Clearwater Paper full-time

      Pros

Company benefits and pay are above industry standard for many roles

      Cons

Organized chaos. Changes made are not necessarily fleshed out completely leaving the lower level employees to pick up the pieces. Morale continuously remains low due to these poorly orchestrated and implemented changes.

      Advice to Management

Listen to employees at all levels. The company would be more profitable and would attract quality employees looking to do a great job.

I worked at Clearwater Paper full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Decent pay, although with layoffs they've really been stingy and have tried to shortchange people. Insurance, 401k, PTO is pretty great. I enjoyed most of the people I worked with, and being in manufacturing can be pretty interesting.

      Cons

I would not recommend this as a long term employer to anybody, especially people who think logically. Logical thinking seems to really be lacking here. At every company, there is a degree of things that don't make sense and things that are inefficient. Here, that pool of things is huge and can be very taxing day to day. Over the last year they've been laying people off in an effort to save money. Problem is, in my opinion,...
