I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent- incentives would be nice. They provide educational classes and I enjoy that. benefits are pretty great though

    Cons

Paying for parking and Cleveland city tax is a killer. Parking is terrible. I have to walk 15 minutes to my building. Also, staffing is and will always be a problem. Also, annual competencies are brutal. Burnt out floor nurses go into education and treat you like dirt when you can't remember how to program a PCA pump (I've never even had to!).

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately my ANM's and NM have forgotten what it's like to be nurses. They treat us like we need to suck it up when we are busy and get sent to meetings with no coverage. They have a "buddy system"' where we rely on another nurse to cover our patients- meaning they can have up to 8-9 patients at one time. This system does not work. Our acuity is either normal or extremely high. Our managers always try to discontinue sitters and make us feel bad for even trying to keep a patient safe with a sitter. Unfortunately it's like this everywhere, I just wish the clinic could see things more in a nurse perspective.
