I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time

    Pros

Decent insurance coverage ( you pay more if you smoke, have diabetes, high blood pressure or are overweight).
Some areas have work from home programs, but it varies from one department to the next as far as if they have a program and how many days you can work from home.

    Cons

There is no limit to the number of hours you work during the regular work day and then you are expected to be on call. Cleveland Clinic provides a cell phone and typically the Enterprise Engineers, Enterprise DBAs, Enterprise Storage, Epic Engineers and all IT management is expected to respond within 20 minutes of a call regardless of day/time. There use to be a lot of great inhouse talent at Cleveland Clinic, but they have outsourced almost all of Information Technology division to IBM. Supply chain division was outsourced to Red Cardinal. They are going to continue that trend with other areas so a con may be job security may be less secure here than a company not trending on outsourcing.

    Advice to Management

In my opinion, if you want a work/life balance, ask questions about the number of actual (not expected) hours you need to work for the area you are interviewing with. HR will say you are expected to work 45 hours a week, but some areas expect 50-60 hours a week and require you to be onsite for 9 hours a day minimum no exception. Other areas are very flexible and expect a reasonable number of hours and offer a flexible schedule.
