I worked at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

large facility with nice decoration and advertisements.

    Cons

low salary, harassing environment, poor career development, highly political.

    Advice to Management

As my forth postdoctoral research fellowship year with NIH ranking PGY-4 my salary shouldn't be $37,000 as an entry level. My previous salaries were $50,000/ year. As a postdoctoral research fellow at Taussig Cancer Center I had bad experience with circumstances of harassing and rude clinical oncology RNs. Previous postdoc fellow whom I had replaced had bad experience as well and left the program. After informed consenting more than 100 study subjects and expecting to be awarded, I was easily staged and lost all credits of genuine work. After completing my fellowship I was happy to leave the program and never looked my back. As a postdoc research fellow I was expecting at least one first authored publication for my career development which never happened.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Exceptional learning environment, average pay, great benefits

    Cons

Not flexible for family. Lots of early and impromptu meetings.

    Advice to Management

Offer more flexibility for work life balance: part time, job share, better leave policies, flexing time, work from home etc.

I worked at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits but not as good as the past. Support staff is good but they are all required to do more each year.

    Cons

It doesn't seem management knows what is going on especially at the regional sites. Support staff is pushed every year to do more or go somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Review all departments and put more resources into primary care

I worked at Cleveland Clinic part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition Reimbursement, Career Ladder, Great Healthcare Coverage

    Cons

Too large of an employer. Employees are treated more as numbers than people. Point policy. Ridiculous Prices for Parking $90 a month full time $45 a month part time. SAFETY at the main campus. As of April of this year you have to stay in one single position for 2 years until you can bid on another position.

    Advice to Management

    Be more approachable, and realistic.

    Pros

Great experience to develop personal nursing skills and knowledge. Work alongside top minds of the medical profession. Great opportunity to improve the lives of patients from across the globe.

    Cons

Extremely poor management. Unsafe RN to patient ratios. False promises of a culture of transparency and innovation instead deny and blame.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your star employees and get rid of the ones who show up for the paycheck and don't care about the patients. Get involved on your unit and the care of patients to see what is really going on instead of staying locked up in your office sending off meaningless inspirational emails.
