I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    You help save people's lives

    Cons

After a grueling 2 year investigation of outsourcing, about 1/4 of the central IT was outsourced due to politics at the very top. IT management was opposed to it. This is "Just the beginning".

    Advice to Management

Just outsource it all and be done with it. Waiting to find out when your number is going to come up stinks.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent patient experience. Good diversity of people. Fair health insurance. Good community service. Patient is center of care

    Cons

Place is so much large to the point employee may easily get lost and not appreciated enough. Sometimes you feel that cutting costs of health care is more important than physicians working themselves

    Advice to Management

Physician ethics should be the major determining factor in hiring rather than names.

    Pros

Great organization and great people to work with. My department manager was very helpful in adjusting schedules to help facilitate the BMET classwork I was talking at the local Community College. She has been a great encouragement!

    Cons

Not much upward mobility in being a patient transporter....not a lot of demand nor is it very challenging...

    Advice to Management

Embrace the attitudes of my department manager and incorporate her kind of encouragement throughout our organization!

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Willing to work with schedules for students, great work environment, (I work in the PICU), focused highly on patient care as well as employee education. Benefits kick in the day you're hired.

    Cons

little to no overtime, have to be in a position a year before any kind of lateral movement. While accruing PTO, new hires can't use it for the first 90 days.

    Advice to Management

Only real advice is to try to make policies and processes uniform. I love my floor, but every PCNA who trained me did things drastically different. Some things need to be uniform in how they are executed to promote a more efficient workplace.
