I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Experience, insurance, reputation. Overall great place to work. Also can't forget tuition reimbursement!

    Cons

If you're new it takes a while to learn your way around the building.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Steady work. Mind numbingly steady work.

    Cons

Miserable place to be. The Clinic (Toby) will own your soul! All hours of your life belong to them. All facets of your life are meaningless. The Clinic comes first! Always! So forget your family. Forget your life!

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees. Forget the caring for caregivers nonsense words and SHOW IT!

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are nice, and you have good job security as a patient worker. The tuition reimbursement is a nice bonus.

    Cons

Rigid management system expected from a large company. Paying to park if you work downtown. Outrageous cost of buying food on campus.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees based on their achievements. There is often pressure to treat every employee equally, but that is not a good way to retain employee satisfaction.

    Pros

-Excellent benefits for an American company
    -Challenging environment
    -Name recognition
-Flexible hours, overtime, PTO (but hospitals have few holidays)

There's a focus on continuing education with a subsidy for certain degrees at Case Western. High impact research means publications and connections in academia internationally.

Most everyone you work with has PhD which is a pro and a con.

    Cons

Many of the usual pressures of academic jobs:
    -Competitive atmosphere
    -Intense work.
-Flexible hours translates to working all the time. Thinking about it all the time.
    -Pay is bad

I would only recommend to people who are very serious about pursuing a scientific career. Make sure you have your life together first too! Balance can fly right out the window, but it doesn't have to.

    Advice to Management

Not sure what you're up to, to be honest.

I have been working at Cleveland Clinic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Advancement is highly supported here. They live on people advancing in there careers. Once you work here you get exposed to many different jobs you may never have thought to pursue.

    Cons

You have to care about yourself and speak up. You can get forgotten or feel unheard in this huge company. So beat down the doors when you need something done (with respect of course).

    Pros

You work inside. And it's not a coal mine.

    Cons

The favoritism is criminal. And if it was a coal mine, you'd have a union.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the words "The Clinic is the worst employer in the area"! Do something about it!
