    Pros

An extremely large company with offices in many countries giving some the opportunity to work in other countries. There are many levels of competency so that individuals in the larger offices can "climb the corporate ladder."

    Cons

They are too large and have lost track of their support staff and how they can contribute to the overall health and wealth of of the company. While always asking for input, the ideas put forth by the staff never seen to come to fruition.

    Advice to Management

Remember that the company is only as good as its weakest link. Listen to what the individuals have to say and try and answer their concerns in a complete way.

I worked at Clifford Chance full-time

    Pros

Working with very intelligent people and in general the compensation is fair.

    Cons

Terribly slow decision-making on a firm level. A lot of time spent pleasing partners rather than getting work done. If you are not a lawyer, you get treated as a second-class employee.

    Pros

People are fantastic and down to earth.

    Cons

Management both globally and in Asia pacific. In a bit of a crisis of identity at the moment with its culture which has been ripped apart by fundamental changes to the partnerships structure.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees fairly. Sort out the strategy.

    Pros

You learn a lot, and you learn how big law firms work and how lawyers interact.

    Cons

Lots of hours at the company. Never left before 21:00 a.m.

    Advice to Management

Be more equal between the trainees, there are trainees that leave at 1 a.m. and others that leave at 6 p.m. They should adjust the trainees to the needs of each department.

    Pros

Lots of dedicated, talented people who really do want to help you get the job done, make clients happy and go home at the end of the day.

    Cons

Management isnt always receptive to ideas or doing things differently. Teams are shuffled every couple of years but the core management team stays the same, so no new improvements at the end and they are notoriously resistant to change.
Very difficult to negotiate new salary rises, caps and ceilings are often imposed on everyone except for partners and seniors or so it appears, which is quite frustrating.
Still have the mindset that youre only productive if working at your desk and even so if you leave at 6pm then youre leaving early.
In certain positions extremely limited or no opportunities for career growth, lots of internal politics that also cause complications.

    Advice to Management

You are often saying that people (i.e. your employees) matter and that without them you wouldnt be able to provide a good service for your clients. Prove it or demonstrate in some way without the open-space, hot seat gimmicks. Allow people to work from home or remotely.
Listen to ideas coming up from the teams, if there is a high turnover in the teams, surely you need to look at the manager or partner heading the team, rather than the team members?
Why is it fair to cap salaries and add ceilings to some teams but not to lawyers, partners etc? How does that work? What about paying a fair salary and rewarding people who work hard and put the effort in?
Its also a bit ingenious to have press releases stating how great a profit the firm made and then tell people at salary reviews, sorry, no pay rise this year, theres no money. No really there isnt, we paid the partners their bonuses and its all gone now. Dont worry though, we'll think of something.
    Seriously?

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Great training in fast paced work environment. Many and various international secondment and training opportunities available.

    Cons

Like every other big law firm, stressful environment with very long hours with some occasional boorish behaviours.

    Advice to Management

Nothing specific to say here. This is the normal legal model for better or worse and you get what you get.
