I have been working at Clifford Chance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Progressive use of technology and new working practices (agile working). Open culture, which allows exposure to all parts of the business. Effort is rewarded, and there is a great deal of forgiveness if things don't quite go to plan - as long as the intent is positive and effort is high.

    Cons

Expectations around performance are high - which is consistent with any world-class organisation - and this can become exhausting. At times decisions are made and then reversed, and this can slow progress and can be draining.

    Advice to Management

Continue to share the vision and support people in delivering it. Promote integration across all functions - the organisational boundaries can hinder performance and pace.

    Pros

a very good firm, environment is amazing, great people and facilities and great pay. Because of high stakes in major litigation and large transactions, clients in these situations often want to draw from the vast legal and administrative resources of a large firm. In particular, huge international firms are gaining a lot of work because of the "full-spectrum" services they can provide to large multinational corporations.

    Cons

Long hours are the norm in most large law firms. 50 to 80 work weeks are not uncommon among lawyers and paralegals.Large law firms attract a wealth of high-caliber legal talent, all competing for the best assignments, promotions, limited partnership spots and a slice of the profits.

    Advice to Management

Do you regularly ask 'How are you?' Listen when your employees ask for help? Give people a chance to shine? Give them time to train so that they can do their job effectively? Are you sensitive to the pressures on employees both in and out of work?

I have been working at Clifford Chance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Wonderful company to work for, salary is competitive with the usual benefits, but have gym, swimming pool, a good canteen and the environment (both inside and outside the office) is very good. Colleagues are great to work with.

    Cons

Not much of a career progression for a legal secretary unless you into management or change of career. But in this sort of role I suspect that is the case for a lot of companies, unlike a lawyer, whereas there is some kind of progression.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that HR should play a more active role in communicating with employees. The hierarchy structure in a department is fine. Don't really have much to do with CEOs or such like.
