I worked at Clifford Chance full-time

    Pros

U.S. lawyers who want exposure to the most sophisticated cross-border transactions should seriously consider Clifford Chance.

    Cons

Especially given the time zone differences inherent in cross-border work, the job is 24/7/365.

I have been working at Clifford Chance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people, both in operations/business services as well as lawyers Focused on becoming a leading law firm, especially in innovation and technology Very open to new methods of working

    Cons

Benefits are VASTLY different between lawyers and operations staff No sense of an open door policy with many of the senior level staff Ideas from HQ (London) often get pushed down to other offices without allowing the local office to have a "say" in the process

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees the same way. Regional differences between lawyers and operations staff such as what level of discount you receive for a gym membership, what level of seating you get on an airline, maternal/paternal benefits, etc. is unsettling. Create alternative methods for associates to feel more comfortable approaching senior colleagues about the ways of working (i.e. support for additional training,... changing how things get done, etc.).

    I worked at Clifford Chance

    Pros

Worldwide network, international experience, high-profile deals, many very good lawyers/partners, some of whom will take an interest in you. If you manage to avoid missteps for the first few years (see below), certain partners and senior associates will "protect" you.

    Cons

Hours can be brutal and moreover, unpredictable so expect to cancel plans at least sometimes. Minor missteps can result in a bad reputation spreading through departments quickly, effectively ending your career there.

    I worked at Clifford Chance

    Pros

Vac Schemes don't come much better than this. Definitely worth the application for the insight and experience!

    Cons

Can be quite exhausting but then again so can being a lawyer

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Clifford Chance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

As far as I could tell - no pros if you are support staff working shift patterns

    Cons

Great if you are a lawyer - terrible for support staff. especially overnighters. Not allowed to use the gym or sleep in lunch break to catch up on missed sleep. No awareness of the hardship of working overnight shift patterns. All the advertised perks in job ads not available to night staff. Brutal and mean - micro managed.

    Pros

A great platform for lawyers who would like to develop their professional career.

    Cons

As a professional lawyer, usually you may need to work longer hours than those in some of the other industries, but is's rewarding for your life.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Clifford Chance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good office location Big name in law firms

    Cons

Bunch of folks have no clue what and why they are working with CC. This you would find most in IT teams. All they do is pass time with senior lawyers and save their jobs .

    Advice to Management

Reduce the extra fat, people who are not good or responsible remove them. You would end up having an elephant. Middle-level managers are useless
