    Pros

Employees are dedicated. Majority have over a decade of experience. Dedicated to safety and environmental mandates.

    Cons

Corporate office forcing their own cost targets to sites without input from sites. Environmental mandates continue to eat into operating costs.

    Advice to Management

A lot of smart people already work there; just have to listen.

    Pros

Good Pay. Good Insurance that you do not have to pay into. Good people to work with.

    Cons

Forced overtime. Bad Management decisions. Union is losing all important arbitrations. Not a very good balance between work and family time. Things have gotten worse since Cliffs was overtaken by a hedge fund. Contractors allowed on the property to do work that laid off people can and should be doing. Not enough man power to keep the place clean and safe. No pension for people hired after 2016.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the advice that has already been given to you instead of passing it off. People have good ideas to improve the workplace. You can all work together to make the place better and safer. Attitudes need to change.

    Pros

Challenging environment to work in. Mining is difficult, yet rewarding if you can get past the nonsense.

    Cons

No discipline for employees. Labor union runs the facility. No assistance from senior management with operational or personnel troubles. Look the other way or face consequences in every way imaginable - by managers at all levels, by work force due to union and within the community.

    Pros

Good Salary for area, enjoyable work

    Cons

nepotism is rampant. High level managers have made poor choices and rather than admit to them they continue to support the poor choice. Lack of experience and dead ears to those with experience. The so called company code of ethics is in all actuality only if it doesn't interfere with your agenda. They think that they own you and you should schedule your life around work at a moments notice

    Advice to Management

get rid of dead weight it will become more obvious as you have listened to the wrong people. now they have to accept the blame for poor decisions they previously placed on others who are no longer there. good luck

    Pros

Good pay, 12 hour shifts. A lot of good employees in Union and salary. That's about it. Everything else is a negative.

    Cons

Benefits keep getting worse for salary every year. Foremen and dispatcher are paid for 12 hour a shift but required to work 12.5 to 14 hours per shift. Raises are minuscule. Engineers have no experience but make plans without consulting people that have to do work. Upper management have no personalities and no common sense.

    Advice to Management

Hire management that can relate to people. Hire engineers with mining experience. Let foremen do their job. Reward salary for the work they do.

I worked at Cliffs Natural Resources full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay was decent and people really cared about their jobs.

    Cons

Stock price has crashed. They put in a new CEO but can he salvage the stock for those of us that have a ton of stock and have lost most of our life savings?

    Advice to Management

Wrap coal assets into an MLP, idle Bloom Lake or sell it but don't just write it off and take a monster charge. Spinoff your international assets into CLF International. Give the spinoff as a distribution to shareholders. Once coal assets are in an MLP, boost dividend. Do whatever it takes to get the stock price up.

    Pros

Go place to work but no stability if the job will be there now a days.

    Cons

No security. Company is in a dead spin and will most likely be taken over by Casablanca Capital.

    Pros

Some good people there or at least there was when I served. Worked together as a team to get things done. enjoyed the time.

    Cons

After 7+ years thought I had long-term prospects. I was part of many Involuntary separated, was deeply heart broken & immensely disappointed. Little diligence done in organising who was being separated. Some with inadequate capability ended up staying. This was picked up by a group of us and was especially strong in HR & IT. If you had friends in the right place your were OK (Band Management)

    Advice to Management

Stop blaming the cyclical nature of Iron Ore and using this as an excuse. Mining is challenging no matter the nature of global economics. Too many mistakes made when Ore was at 170, sat back took the profit hoping everything was going to be OK. Changed CEO but still have bitter in-battles (So say my friends who still work there) medium to low hope for future for them . I was told they are still cutting cost.
