    Pros

Cliffs Natural Resources pays their employees very well. Even at the lowest pay grade you are getting more than 22 dollars an hour.

    Cons

Working for a mine you never know when you might get laid off. My father worked at United Taconite for 38 years and just like that he got laid off last fall for almost an entire year. he only recently got back to work. Job security is hard to come by even though it is a union job.

    Advice to Management

From my perspective United Taconite managed their summer students well. Allowing us to be taught a number of different skills by working different jobs. In my two summers alone I was a painter, forklift/skidstear operator, lab assistant etc.

    Pros

Great people to work with. May be the best properties of this company is their people.

    Cons

Very volatile market, and really bad management decisions. IT staff is barely holding on to support roles.

    Advice to Management

There is really nothing that can be added to the management decisions. When I left Cliffs, it was already in an almost-impossible downward spiral.
