I have been working at Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits, Generous PTO, Generally good people to work with, rewarding work

    Cons

Can only speak for my site: habitually under staffed- company/management blame it on "obamacare" yet release statements about the company and our host hospital doing well in terms of budget This is in mid 2014.. Strongest workers are frequently and continually asked to do more work, leads to burn out quickly. Little opportunity for advancement if you're looking for that kind of thing. Management is known to invade employee personal lives to the point of harassment and this behavior is tolerated by the company. Wages for job title and cost of living are not in line with nation.

    Advice to Management

Actions speak louder than words. Be honest. Staff your lab properly.. for patient safety and employee health!

I have been working at Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Matching 401(k)
    HSA, flex spending
    Float Positions

    Cons

    No prescription benefits (HSA only)
    Float positions require 4am-6pm availability
No room for advancement with downsizing of company.
No holiday pay (must use vacation hours in order to get paid for hourly positions).

    Advice to Management

Should assign float positions on rotating schedule. Some people have families and need to plan for them in advance.

I worked at Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees were hard working and very attentive to the patients.

    Cons

For being an "accredited" laboratory, company didn't have policies and procedures available for their employees.
Each person had their own way of doing things.

    Advice to Management

Policies and procedures are important to insure patient safety. Best to revisit various locations (Hilo, HI) to insure that best practices are put into place.
