don't tell new hire the truth about what wages they will get. cant miss any days of work for any reason.

    Advice to Management

try telling the truth about the wages instead of talking super fast, mumbling over the pay rates.

I worked at Clopay (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place to work if you are a brown-noser. If you are a BS'er you will do real well here.

    Cons

If you do your job you will not be rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Look at which managers have the highest turnover of employees. This may be a clue. Either they don't know how to hire and have to fire, or they drive good people away.

    I worked at Clopay full-time

    Pros

The people that I worked with in the call center were extremely nice and helpful.

    Cons

They pay is on the lower end, the training was not adequate for the position but they were working on a new training program as I left Clopay.

I worked at Clopay full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Building in good location and centrally located.

    Cons

Very mentally abusive environment. Screamed at and f-bombed by a vice-president several times before I quickly left due to the fact that he didn't like the information I presented in reports for his projects. Went to HR and they did absolutely nothing. Very sick and dysfunctional environnment. Employees were allowed to scream at and cuss each other out daily with no repercussions. Same as other reviews---do exactly what upper management wants even if unethical or illegal---or else.

Also--the bathrooms on both floors in the Mason location were very unsanitary and just gross--maybe a sign they are cutting back on janitorial help?

    Advice to Management

I'd give advice but I think at this point they are beyond help. To anybody working there---RUN!!!

I worked at Clopay (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and perks are fairly impressive.

    Cons

Employees and Management that I worked with had no respect for each other. There was constant name calling (very profane language), people always throwing things at each other (nothing too dangerous) and a general lack of professionalism. It was like being in a junior high lunchroom for 10 hours. Besides that we worked 7 days a week, 10 hours a day quite often and there was no choice on your part whether you wanted to or not. I was hired in for a 40 hour a week job and was not told about the overtime until I was working. Yes, the paychecks were nice but any social life you may have had, not to mention time with family, went straight out the window.

    Advice to Management

Teach your employees RESPECT for themselves and others! I actually contacted an attorney after I left and he was chomping at the bit to sue Clopay to hell and back- my BOSS called me (and others) every derogatory and profane name you can think of (jokingly, but still, VERY inappropriate). But likely the Boss and many of the other employees would have lost their jobs over it, which I didn't want, so I just walked away. My advice is increase your efforts in training your staff and employees about HARASSMENT...you are setting yourself up to lose a lot of money in lawsuits by neglecting this issue!
