    Pros

never stagnant, always exploring ways to grow business and qualifications in our industry

    Cons

salary for management and senior roles could be more competitive

I worked at Club One full-time

    Pros

Fantastic opportunity to affect people's lifestyles and build relationships.

    Cons

Company fell on difficult financial times.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time in the trenches to identify staff obstacles to success. Cut the fat from the very top of the executive chain. Reward those controlling costs than just those generating revenue.

I worked at Club One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Club One tends to promote from within, so if you are a hard-working, dedicated employee they recognize that and give you opportunities to expand your knowledge in the health and fitness industry. The company has been sold to it's original founders and is now called "Active Sports".

    Cons

Lack of communication from the corporate office made it difficult to feel supported.

    Advice to Management

Communicate constantly with your employees to help them feel more supported

I have been working at Club One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They are doing their best in a tough market -- still shying away from the preditorial nature of some of the lower end gyms.

    Cons

Losing share to Fitness SF and other gyms. Changes in the personal training market has eroded Club One's margins.

    Advice to Management

Consider some creative ways to stay relevant without stretching the brand too thin or resorting to lowbrow tactics.

    Pros

promoted if showed dedication to the job
    In line with company values
lots of great people to work with

    Cons

not always sure of direction company was going
high turn over - but that is the nature of the industry

I worked at Club One (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good clientele and not a whole lot of oversight on what you do with clients. fairly collaborative with knowledge. Made lasting friends and clients.

    Cons

No raises in 5 years, upward mobility limited. Lots of turnover in management but that does not really affect the front line staff that works on commission.

    Advice to Management

Be sure you want to be a manager, the lifespan of a fitness manager is short. Otherwise support your trainers and share knowledge. Money driven managers don't last, but those that care about training people and making connections with the members fair much better and the trainers will work harder for you.

    Pros

Free gym membership with great exercise and Yoga classes
    Fun and good looking people
    Locations and atmosphere are nice

    Cons

    They never give raises
Have no room for grow and do not hire from within
    Can overwork employees at times
    Health benefits are expensive

    Pros

Complimentary membership to all Club One locations in Bay Area, great networking as you met new people everday, discounts on health insurrances.

    Cons

Salary is not the best but neither is the economy. Deal with numerous complaints from dissatisfied members on a daily basis, not much recognition from the management on a corporate level.

    Advice to Management

Please give recognition to the service desk team once in a while. We tend to get the short end of the stick and got a lot of grief with no reward.
