I have been working at Coach part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent hourly pay, nice atmosphere, associates at my store cooperative and helpful.

    Cons

No commission but lots of pressure to deliver sales quota using the Coach storytelling verbage; therefore, most people seem to hear it nd look at us like we are crazy and have no check valve for when to shut up. Very stiff and formal overly dramatized sales techniques which feel artificial and absurd. Associates are put under extreme pressure to sell or get fired after 3 write ups, even with few hours which limits ability to sell enough product. Many Chinese speaking customers come in and take photos of products in silence, without purchasing, hurting conversion metrics. Very catty male mgrs who play favorites. Politics play a huge role in who gets treated how. All about the Coach bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Don't be such pushy, cult-like robots who sellout for a paycheck.

I worked at Coach (More than a year)

    Pros

great discounts, same level co workers are nice, and you learn a lot since coach is a machine.

    Cons

abusive middle management, i was SCREAMED at multiple times for minor errors, once for not setting my printer margins correctly on a spread sheet, sometimes to the point where my manager would corner me in their office and scream at me till i cried... long hours, minimal training, often left to fend for yourself. Very much a sink or swim culture. High turn over. Weight loss from stress.

    Advice to Management

Support your employees, and train them properly. Be respectful and don't scream and abuse your employees to the point of harassment. Let go of middle management with bad retention rate history ... there is a reason they cant keep people on their team ...

    Advice to Management

Creating a clear structure will help interns a whole lot.

I worked at Coach full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good discount and beautiful new headquarters in Hudson Yards. Good health benefits and strong bonus and stock incentives for mid management.

    Cons

The management is very poor. They lack leadership skills. It is a culture of micro managers who do not allow capable employees make decisions. Management lacks strong decision making skills. Poor performers are allowed to stay on due to political reasons.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to make decisions and support them. Need to a culture shift to allow less politics and more product and people focus.

I have been working at Coach full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Upbeat fast paced, enjoyable work environment. Learned to multitask while still working my hardest to provide a great experience for everyone involved.

    Cons

The hours and working the weekends really doesn't work with my daughter's or my husband's scheduling anymore. We are constantly passing each other as we come and go and it has become hard on our family.

I have been working at Coach full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Loads of business acumen experience , some nice people, paid trips and nice pto.

    Cons

Must be in the "it girls" club. Literally like being in the Mean Girls movie. Employees of Coach think that they are better then you. Benefits are so so.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to how "grey" your leaders are. Seriously calm down, it's Coach and your outlets are your brand too!

I worked at Coach full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Starting pay was fairly competitive compared to other retail sales jobs.
There were some other monetary incentives if the store did well that added up to about 15% of your total salary, although this was rarely achieved.

    Cons

There is a huge problem with micromanaging, company does not have a clear view for the future. Raises are pretty insignificant (around 3% annually).

This is a sinking ship. Okay for someone just out of high school and going to college but not the place you should consider for your career.

    Advice to Management

First, make a marketing plan that is not based on price and stick to it. Second, micromanaging the sales staff only serves to annoy them (don't ask for "stories" with customers every hour, maybe do that during the "minute").

I worked at Coach part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers, management very well structured. Flexible hours. Stock area and sales floor very well organized. Working with hand bags is much more easier to work with than clothing and food.

    Cons

Benefits not great at all. Discount recently changed, and more than half of the items was better paid as a customer. Pay for non bilingual workers is low. Been there 3 years, extremely strong worker in all aspects and they kept me under $10 with no opportunity for growth. Hours spread throughout the week in short shifts, makes life/work balance off. Would rather work 10 hour shifts a day than 5 hours everyday for 6 days.

    Advice to Management

Better pay and recognition for hard workers.
