I worked at Coach full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good discount and beautiful new headquarters in Hudson Yards. Good health benefits and strong bonus and stock incentives for mid management.

    Cons

The management is very poor. They lack leadership skills. It is a culture of micro managers who do not allow capable employees make decisions. Management lacks strong decision making skills. Poor performers are allowed to stay on due to political reasons.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to make decisions and support them. Need to a culture shift to allow less politics and more product and people focus.

I worked at Coach (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. The company is known for offering great benefits. When I first started in 2013, the company used to match the entire percentage of 401k now they only match the first 5%, which is good too. HR used to be great to employees now, everyone is just trying to abide by rules and trying to maintain their jobs, rather than trying to investigate allegations made by employees.

    Cons

Lack of structure after Victor Luis and Stuart Vevers took over. The company went a direction where we, as employees feel like they were lying and hiding reports from us. Giving celebrities free things aren't generating profits for the company. The numbers doesn't match. As employees, we can't disagree with upper management. If you do, you will be wearing a scarlet letter as someone who do NOT follow orders. The image of Coach has changed...for the worst. They're no LONGER the ALL AMERICAN company. They're trying to compete with luxurious companies when Coach should have stayed as the middle class, affordable company they're known for. Those who can afford a $798 handbags will not be spending it at COACH, which is why the company isn't where it used to be as far as profit. The numbers just doesn't add up.

    Advice to Management

Respect others and give other managers a chance to use their abilities. Just because you have a tittle, doesn't mean you know what you're doing. Try to be more of leaders rather than managers. Great leaders lead by examples. PLEASE, follow policies STOP breaking the rules.

I have been working at Coach full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

i'm completely in love with the product and the originality of the designer, overall great company and great bonuses. the discount is fairly generous. there's definitely room for growth within. paid holidays are nice.

    Cons

the way to accrue vacation time takes a while. not working on commission, but having an environment where it feels like you do by having to tell the customer your name creates animosity.

    Advice to Management

it's hard to adhere to policies and procedure when customer service says one thing and the policies say another. we should all be on the same page

I worked at Coach full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When i first started working for coach i loved my job & the company. The product is beautiful and amazing! And yhe COMPANY culture was great!

The discount is good if you can use it!

    Great benefits and bonuses!

    Cons

The STORE culture however is an entirely different game. I relocated with the company after basically being promised to be one of the first ones to be considered for a promo. But let me tell you. NEVER relocate for a company if they are not going to offer you the change in title to go with it. Managers LIE LIE LIE & LIE instead of telling you the honest truth about what you need to improve on. They make promises to get you to do what they want. & they use you.Ive seen it happen over & over to other coworkers looking to move up. & unless you literally kiss their butts & become buddy buddy your not moving up anytime! They dont value true talent here because managers do not have the skills to develope talent. The people that are managers GOT LUCKY. They want you to work there for 4-7 years as a SALES ASSOCIATE before they give you an entry level assistant manager position with low pay. at my last store mamagers managed like rookies. Except a selet few. I loved this company & i am disapoonted that i had this experience. I made alot of sacrafices for this company & they dont appreciate anything.

    Advice to Management

DMs need to be more closely involved in choosing internal candidates. Stop taking the store managers word for everything. If she wants her less qualified & ill prepared butt buddy to get the job she can make whoever she wants look bad. Train your managers on how to give negative feedback. Letting them sugar coat EVERYTHING doesnt help your employees improve & remain loyal to you. Also there needs to be exit interviews. There is no one to check the managers & the bs that they do at the store level.

I worked at Coach full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and bonus structure is well set and the benefits are great. Employee discounts are great as well especially if your a Coach lover.

    Cons

Work life balance non existent, too much political plays, drama is accepted and not nipped in the butt like it should be.

    Advice to Management

Reward people that do the job and go beyond not the people that just gossips and knows how to talk. If the their work doesn't match their talk, then something should be done to change their ways.

    Pros

Prestigious, reputable company to work for. World-reknown for it's high quality products and workmanship. World leader in affordable, modern luxury. Great employee discount of 65% off.

    Cons

Micromanaged to death. There needs to be more opportunities to advance, to work full-time, and to qualify for health and retirement benefits.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on positive feedback of what employees are doing right, build on those strengths and reinforce them. Too much of the feedback from management comes across as being overly negative, critical, and nitpicky. When an employee is trying their very best to do a good job and all they hear is what they're doing wrong, that can be very discouraging and counterproductive. Leaders should build people up and help mold and develop them to be the best that they can be in order to reach their full potential as employees. More praise and less criticism would create a more happy, productive, and positive work environment.
