I worked at Coastal Chemical part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent management locally and nationally. Excellent opportunity for growth, in various departments. Excellent training and commitment to employees safety, education & work life/home life balance. I never would have had to or wanted to leave of my husband had not had to transfer with his job.

    Cons

The only con is In the oil and chemical industry, things stay extremely busy, however when oil and gas prices plunge no ones job is safe. From the top on down!

I worked at Coastal Chemical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of one within a cut throat company. Managers spend their time acting like they know what they are doing.

    Cons

Uneducated individuals are at the top and the poor performance and loss of business is a definite reflection of just that.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off hard working people because you have failed.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Coastal Chemical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

In better economic years the company was great to work for, busy but hectic. Now the work has leveled off. New employees are more professional than long time workers, but many of the older employees have been forced into retirement.s

    Cons

Few women have management jobs. It is still a company run by men, and the large company Brenntag is changing lots of the procedures.

    Advice to Management

Women do the majority of the work, and the men spend most of their time traveling.
Lots of money spend on traveling to meetings that could be better spent on salaries for the women.

I have been working at Coastal Chemical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coastal Chemical provides reasonably competitive salaries, much better than average retirement contributions, and perks like a company vehicle.

    Cons

The company is currently in the transition period from a medium size privately held company, to a subsidiary and major spoke of its parent company. This transition is yeilding quick and major business adjustments causing increased work loads across the board.

    Advice to Management

Continue to grow the infrastructure to improve employee services and stability.
